Thanks to platforms such as Zoom, we are able to provide our beat making sessions virtually for students locally in Oakland, the Bay Area, and around the globe.
We are currently running our Beats4Lunch program twice weekly at West Oakland Middle School for almost nine years and preparing to continue our fifth year at Alameda County Juvenile Hall through virtual means.
In recent months, we have been providing Therapeutic Beat Making groups for teens in substance abuse recovery and mental health treatment programs, as well as workshops for houseless youth and transitioning families at East Oakland Community Project, a Girls’ Beat Making Workshop led by female beatmakers, and we provided a Spanish-language beat making workshop with bi-lingual instructors!

We continue to help formerly-homeless youth through our partnerships with organizations such as DreamCatcher/Covenant House in Oakland, Larkin Street Youth Center in San Francisco, and YEAH! in Berkeley.
Today’s Future Sound is also providing weekly beat making sessions every Saturday evening through its #GlobalBeatCypher. It is an initiative for adults to build community, solidarity, and support young adult/adult well-being. We provide a space for beatmakers from different regions of the world, to connect and have a chance to play their beats and make friends along the way. Check out our latest #GlobalBeatCypher!
