# Support Youth Through Therapeutic Beat Making: Today’s Future Sound 2025 Year-End Fundraiser
As 2025 comes to a close, Today’s Future Sound (TFS) is launching our annual Year-End Fundraiser to expand access to Therapeutic Beat Making, Hip Hop therapy, and trauma-informed music education for youth across the Bay Area and beyond.
For over a decade, TFS has brought Hip Hop–based mental health interventions to young people in:
• Bay Area public schools and alternative schools
• Juvenile halls and probation programs
• Community centers, after-school programs, and youth-serving nonprofits
• International sites in Latin America, Australia, and beyond
Our work uses beat making as a therapeutic tool to support youth through trauma, stress, and emotional challenges — while building creativity, confidence, and cultural pride.

## 🌟 Why Therapeutic Beat Making (TBM) Matters
Therapeutic Beat Making is a Hip Hop–centered, trauma-informed mental health approach developed by Dr. Elliot Gann (Psy.D.).
TBM helps youth:
• regulate emotions through rhythm and repetition
• express difficult experiences safely
• build positive identity and self-esteem
• develop artistic and technological skills
• connect with supportive adult mentors
• reduce stress and behavioral incidents in schools and detention settings
Research shows that culturally responsive creative practices — especially Hip Hop — improve emotional regulation, increase engagement, and reduce trauma symptoms.
TFS has become a leader in Hip Hop therapy, Hip Hop education, and music technology programs that meet youth where they are.

## 🎧 Featured Youth Project: *“Window to the World”* Beat Tape
Created by youth in one of our Bay Area juvenile justice programs, *Window to the World* is a beat tape produced during weekly Therapeutic Beat Making sessions.
The album artwork was conceptualized by the youth themselves and illustrated by a TFS artist — emphasizing youth voice, creative identity, and the power of Hip Hop for emotional healing.
