TFS director and TFS’s main Australian collaborator Scott Griffiths aka Optamus of Downsyde had the pleasure of teaching and doing professional development at one of Adelaide, Australia’s most progressive schools, Woodville Gardens School (WGS). Not only did students compose and perform their beats live, they also authored their own raps over the original beats and performed these original songs live in front of the their fellow students at an assembly performance. See the process from start to finish below as students compose beats piece by piece, write lyrics and perform the beats and raps live! We found some students who were so shy they were hesitant to even press the beat machine pads were confidently performing for hundreds of their peers by the end of the day!
If you are interested in bringing TFS and Optamus to your school for a workshop and/or for professional development on how to integrate Hip Hop, rhyme writing and rapping, and beat making/music technology into your school or classroom, give us a shout!
